The 3 C’s of Safety: Consultation, Communication and Collaboration (2024)

Does social dialogue really make a difference when it comes to worker safety? Join our panelists as they explore the role consultation, communication and collaboration plays in the design and implementation of OSH legislation, policies, and programmes. Hear how the voices of governments, workers’ and employers’ organisations can be balanced to develop effective and sustainable OSH solutions.

International Labour Organization research demonstrates that worker representation and consultation can effectively improve health and safety outcomes for workers. Join panelists Morgan Mazarura, Zimbabwe Construction and Allied Trades Workers Union, Abdul Rauf Anjum, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Pakistan, as they share two international worker perspectives on the role communication plays in overcoming challenges and creating safer workplaces. Moderator Nareen Young, University of Technology Sydney, will lead this discussion, lending her personal experiences of workplace diversity and communication to the conversation.

Natassia Goode, WorkSafe Victoria, Australia, will share her reflections on the role of social dialogue in the design of OSH structures within the Occupational Violence in the Residential Out of Home Care Sector, while Colleen Harris, SafeWork NSW, Australia, will provide an additional national perspective on the role of communication in harm prevention across the Government and Industry sector.

Hear more about how proactive and systematic OSH management efforts can improve safety and reduce accidents at the Informing the Future symposium on Tuesday 28 November.
