First Aid is immediate care of an ill or injured person before professional medical help is available. Skills are needed to take care of the 4 As i.e Awareness-Assessment-Action-Aftercare of a victim for immediate assessment to reassure, restore breathing and stop bleeding. First aid training comprises ofgeneral first aid steps, primary and secondary assessments, CPR and application of any of the other 20 or more first aid procedures/protocols needed to deal with medical emergencies including heart attack, stroke, bleeding, spinal injury, burn, snake bites, jellyfish sting, heat and cold emergencies.

Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) offers First-aid training programmes for everyone to learn recovery and revival skills so that they can provide assistance and be first responders in case of an emergency.
