Mondays Matter
For many, it’s the first day of the working week. The beginning of a fresh start. This is often why Monday is the most important day of the week.
We know they can go one of two ways;
1. You wake up and you smash it. You feel good. Your energy is good, and everything goes your way.
2. Your alarm goes off; you roll over, hit snooze and say you’ll get up in 10 minutes time. 10 minutes turns to 20 and the rest of the day feels like a bit of a slog.
Not going to lie we all have plenty of weeks where it’s number 2. BUT when we hit Monday hard, crack through the to-do list the momentum can carry right through the week.
I want to encourage you to get that Monday session in and recognise the positive impact it can have.
We know the effects a good training session can have on. Do we always want to do it… No
BUT…
Exercise = Endorphins
No matter how overwhelmed, stressed or anxious we are about the week ahead or how much we dread the thought of going for a workout we know that when it’s done, we always feel better.
That’s why we want to encourage…
Never Miss a Monday
It is almost a guaranteed way to get your week off to the best start possible.
My workout acts like a reset button. It’s a chance to switch off and just focus on pushing my body.
I use it as chance to relax and reset. Hands down this is the number 1 reason why I train. I don’t have any body image goals and unfortunately, I have to admit to myself that I’ve missed my opportunity to be a professional tennis player, rugby player and football player all at the same time. So now I train for the fun of it.
How to make it work for you
It involves some discipline. When Monday comes around. You know whatever is going on in your day you need to find time to exercise
It doesn’t have to be the gym
And it doesn’t even have to be Rebel…
It has to work for you.
My training on a Monday tends to be varied and based on how much time I have. I do have a gym routine that I follow but I like to mix it up. Sometimes it’s a 3k walk down Lovers Walk (a personal favourite in Peterculter and I absolutely recommend), a bike ride, a Rebel Zoom or maybe I’ll play a sport with some friends.
Don’t put pressure on yourself to make it something big. Your main challenge is to start and then make sure whatever happens, you never miss a Monday
Monday suggestions
- Put that Rebel Bootcamp in your diary
- Plan a walk
- Check out one of our workouts on our YouTube channel
- Run around the block.
- Hit 10,000 steps
- Skip
Whatever it is, over time you’ll start to develop a better habit and pattern. You’ll figure out what works for you and be able to push the boundaries more and more.
Just DON’T miss a Monday!
Why bother?
More often than not I know if I hit day 1 my week is more likely to fall into place. I fit in more work outs and am more productive.
That first session gets the ball rolling and the momentum carries you forwards. Even if the rest of the week falls apart, I take satisfaction in knowing that I at least managed my Monday session.
If I do lose track of my week, it’s not a big issue. I get to Sunday. I reset and I go again. 52 Mondays in a year. That’s a lot of opportunity to get it right!
