Ginger is depicted as a heartless casino hustler in Las Vegas, Nevada during the early 1970s. One evening, Tangiers Casino manager and mob handicapper, Sam "Ace" Rothstein is watching over the security cameras when he catches Ginger stealing poker chips after distracting men with her good looks.

She sinks into addiction, lends her husband's money to Lester, eventually kidnaps her own daughter in a custody battle, plots to have Ace killed, and sleeps with his associate and friend Nicky.

Sam states that the bosses did not authorize the bombing because they had "other ideas" for him. In 1986, the bosses, finally fed up with Nicky's recklessness and attempt on Sam's life, order Frankie and his crew to kill Nicky and Dominick.
