Request an RBC Royal Bank credit card limit increase

You can request a credit limit increase to your RBC Royal Bank credit card:

  • By secure email - click on the 'You have messages' or 'Go to message centre' link at the top of your Online Banking Home page.
  • By telephone at 1 800 769-2513
  • At your local branch

Information required to process your request

  • Name of Employer (or indicate unemployed/retired)
  • Occupation
  • Annual income
  • Assets
  • Liabilities
  • Monthly rent or mortgage payment
  • Desired new credit limit

When we receive your information a Credit Specialist will review your request, do a complete credit verification, and mail the response to your statement address.

Cancel BalanceProtector® Max coverage

To cancel your BalanceProtector® Max coverage, please call the Insurer directly at 1-888-896-2766.

Alternatively, you may send a written request by fax, e-mail or by regular mail at the address below. Please ensure you include your full name, signature, and your RBC Royal Bank credit card account number.

Please note that the request to cancel the BalanceProtector® Max coverage must come from the primary cardholder on the RBC Royal Bank credit card account.

Report my credit card lost or stolen

Call our 24-hour toll-free number 1-800-769-2512 or Outside North America: 514-218-2929 (collect) immediately if your RBC Royal Bank credit card is lost or stolen

Once you have informed us of the loss, we will be able to block the card from future use and issue a new card to you.

Remove my old credit card from Online Banking

Once credit cards are reported lost/stolen or closed, the numbers will continue to be displayed in Online Banking for a minimum of six months. This allows you to monitor the old accounts to ensure that no transactions are being made.

If it has been more than six months, you can contact us by phone at 1-800-769-2512 or by secure email by clicking on the 'You have messages' or 'Go to message centre' link at the top of your Online Banking Home page.

Pay my RBC Royal Bank credit card

We offer many options to pay your RBC Royal Bank credit card: Online Banking, Telephone Banking, ATM or at your local Branch.

You can make a payment to your RBC Royal Bank Canadian dollar credit card by using Online Banking, by telephone at 1 800 769-2511, at an RBC automated teller machine or by visiting your local RBC Royal Bank branch.

At this time, US Visa accounts cannot be paid using Online Banking.

To pay your RBC Royal Bank MasterCard account through Online Banking, add your RBC Royal Bank MasterCard to your list of payees and make a payment as you would other bills.

Automatic (Auto-Pay) monthly payments

You can request automatic monthly payments to be set up for your Visa account. There are three options available for automatic payments:

  • Payment of the full balance as shown on the statement
  • Payment of the minimum payment amount as shown on statement
  • A predetermined amount can be taken each month
  • Set-up period for automatic Visa payments can take up to 2 monthly cycles to take effect.

    Auto-Pay is not available at this time for RBC Royal Bank MasterCard accounts.

    To wire funds, the following mandatory information is required

    Our SWIFT code is ROYCCAT2 and our ABA routing number for US Dollar correspondence is 021000021.

    There is $10 fee if you wire funds. This fee is withheld at the originating financial institution and thus reduces the payment by $10. For example, if you make a credit card payment of $500, only $490 will show as applied to your account.

    Transfers made to your RBC Royal Bank Visa card can take up to two business days to appear in Online Banking. The confirmation number you receive when making a payment or transfer is your proof when the transaction was completed.

    It is important to to transfer funds before 6:00 p.m. on a business day to receive same business day credit.

    Request a duplicate or previous credit card statement

    To request a duplicate copy of your current or previous statement, send us a secure message by clicking 'Go to message centre' or 'You have messages' under Your Communications on the Home page or contact customer service at 1 800 769-2513.

    Copies of previous statements cost $5 per statement and can only be mailed to the address on file for the credit card account.

    Going forward, you may wish to enrol for electronic statements, or eStatements. You will be able to view all future credit card account statements through RBC Online Banking - and we'll store them for you for seven years. eStatements are a faster and more environmentally friendly alternative to receiving traditional paper account statements in the mail. By choosing to receive Electronic Statements, you will no longer receive monthly paper account statements via regular mail.

    eStatements are not available at this time for RBC Royal Bank MasterCard accounts.

    To enrol for electronic statements for your RBC Royal Bank credit card account:

    From your Account Balances page:

    • Select "Change Statement Options" from the Self Service menu
    • Select "Change" next to your Visa account
    • Follow the screen prompts

    You will receive a confirmation once your request is complete.

    RBC Royal Bank MasterCard statements are not available as electronic statements at this time. To view your RBC Royal Bank MasterCard transactions online, please use the MasterCard Inquiry service.

    As an Avion Rewards cardholder, you can automatically redeem your Avion points while banking online.

    Simply:

    1. Go to your Visa Details page;
    2. Click on "Avion Rewards" from the self-serve menu on the right;
    3. View your points balance and select the items you like.

    If you prefer to order by telephone, you can call us at 1 800 769-2513.

    For Travel Rewards (flights, hotel stays, car rentals, travel packages, VIA Rail and cruises), call 1 877 636-2870.

    Apply for a credit card

    To apply for a credit card online:

    1. From the RBC home page select credit card under the Purchase and Apply section.
    2. Select the RBC Royal Bank credit card that best suits your need and click on (apply for this card? Not sure of the working in English) to complete an application.

    Alternatively, you may telephone our credit specialists at 1-800-769-2599 or pick up an application at any RBC Royal Bank branch. A personal statement of affairs or business information is required and it will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the application over the phone. Permission for a credit history is also required.

    Decisions on credit card applications take up to five business days.

    Apply for the BalanceProtector® Max coverage

    How to apply for BalanceProtector® Max coverage:

    1. From the Banking tab under My Accounts.
    2. Select the “Credit Card" on which you would like to apply for the BalanceProtector® Max.
    3. Scroll down and select "Apply for the BalanceProtector® Max".

    Alternatively, you may call the enrolment centre at 1-888-896-2766 or you can visit your RBC Royal Bank® branch where you can complete a BalanceProtector® Max application.

    View my RBC Royal Bank MasterCard transactions online

    You are not able to view your RBC Royal Bank MasterCard transactions in RBC Online Banking at this time but you can view your transactions online through the MasterCard Inquiry service.

    Make a payment towards my RBC Royal Bank MasterCard account

    Payments can be made to RBC Royal Bank MasterCard as follows:

    • RBC Banking Clients - by setting up your account as a payee and making a bill payment through RBC Online Banking, telephone banking, at an ATM or an RBC branch. Payments may also be made by mail at the address noted on your statement.
    • Non RBC Banking Clients � by setting up each authorized user account as a payee and making a bill payment through online banking, telephone banking, at an ATM or a your branch. Payments may also be made by mail at the address noted on your statement.

    RBC Royal Bank MasterCard statements are not available as eStatements at this time. If you would like to view your RBC Royal Bank MasterCard transactions online, please use the MasterCard Inquiry service.
