Insure Travel Experiences: Events, Concerts, Activities and More (2024)

Travel is all about creating amazing experiences and memories, but those good times often cost a lot and come with the risks and uncertainties that are an inescapable part of a trip. That's why travel insurance is especially essential if you're planning to participate in prepaid non-refundable events and experiences on your trip.

When you're traveling more than 100 miles away from home for an event, even if it's just a road trip, travel insurance can provide you with the peace of mind that you won’t pay for an experience you never actually get to experience. Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverages that are included with all of our travel protection plans can also insure tickets for festivals, concerts, excursions, retreats, activities, theme parks, and other event tickets that you've paid for in advance.

Planning Ahead

These days, planning activities on the fly during a trip isn’t as easy as it used to be. Most travel activities need to be planned and paid for in advance, whether it’s a snorkeling excursion, tickets to the theme park, or even a day at the spa.

After years pent up at home during the pandemic, everyone wants to travel, and often to the same places. With many travelers emulating what they see on social media, the most in-demand events and activities are selling out even more quickly.

Many things can happenbetween the time you book your trip and the start of your vacation that could affect you, your traveling companions or family members and force you to cancel your trip and lose what you’ve already paid.

That’s why it’s important to insure all of your prepaid and nonrefundable trip costs, so you have the funds to rebook your travel experiences in case you need to cancel the trip for a covered reason.

Does travel insurance cover event tickets?

Yes, travel insurance can cover the cost of tickets for events you plan to attend during your trip that were paid for in advance. You simply need to include the nonrefundable cost of those tickets as part of the trip cost that you enter when you get a travel protection quote from Generali.

Then, if you file a claim for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption, the nonrefundable portion of those ticket costs can be reimbursed along with the rest of your eligible trip costs.

Keep in mind that our plans include 20 covered reasons for which you can be reimbursed if your trip is canceled or interrupted. If you want your event and other trip costs covered no matter what, you will need to get our Trip Cancellation for Any Reason add-on coverage.

Experience Cancel for Any Reason

What if you need to cancel your trip for a reason that isn't covered by the usual travel insurance plan? That's where our Trip Cancellation for Any Reason coverage (CFAR) comes in. This add-on coverage allows you to cancel your trip for any reason and still receive a majority of your money back.

This type of coverage removes the need to prove a covered reason for cancellation, making it easier for you to recoup some of your trip costs, including the insured costs for events and activities during your trip. But it comes with a downside – you will not be paid back all the money you’ve invested in your trip. With CFAR, you can be reimbursed up to 60% of the penalty amount for your trip when you cancel for any reason.

CFAR is only available as an add-on to our Premium plan for an extra cost. And, there arestrict requirements that must be metin order to qualify for the coverage, such as needing to buy insurance before or within 24 hours of making the initial payment for your trip.

Worried about losing money you’ve already paid for all the experiences you’ve booked for your trip? Get travel protectionfrom Generali Global Assistance for some peace of mind.
