Is Faith useful in Dark Souls? ›

Faith is also a weapon modifier, increasing magical damage for unique weapons (see Weapon Scaling) any weapon upgraded down the Divine or Occult paths. Faith also increases the lightning damage of the Dragonslayer Spear and the physical damage of the (cursed) Greatsword of Artorias. Faith also increases Magic defense.

While there is lightning in DS1, it does not scale with faith in any weapons besides Dragonslayer Spear. Therefore, if you are a cleric with high faith, you will want to make a divine weapon asap. To do that you will need to obtain the Divine Ember from Darkroot Garden, and later, the Large Divine Ember.

Unless you have a spell tool that has unique scaling, sorceries scale with intelligence, and incantations scale with faith. There are fire sorceries (int), and fire incantations (faith), but unless you use a spell tool that has unique scaling, the general scaling rule applies.

If you do wanna pump Faith, get it to at least 30 if not 50. This'll allow you to cast Sunlight/Darkmoon Blade when you obtain them, both are very powerful buffs. With a Canvas Talisman at 30 Faith or a Darkmoon Talisman at 50, ya' can't go wrong.
