The healthcare sector is growing day by day with developments ranging from medicines to treatment and other innovations, including artificial intelligence and technologies in 2023. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently released a report citing the best healthcare coverage around the world in 2023.
Based on the survey conducted by the World Health Organization in 2023, Canada places itself at the top position to be the best among 194 countries worldwide in the healthcare coverage. The survey considered 194 countries on the basis of noncommunicable diseases, infectious diseases, children health, and other major health concerns for the study. The organization was focused on deriving the results based on two major points, such as whether the coverage of necessary health services is covered or not, and lack of financial security among the consumers. These points are described on the basis of citizens’ expenditures for healthcare compared to their total household expenditure.
According to the report published by the World Health Organization in 2023, Canada in the rank one is followed by Iceland, South Korea, Singapore, and United Kingdom at second, third, fourth, and fifth position of the list for World’s best healthcare coverage, respectively. Canada scores 91 out of total 100 points in the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for 2023. However, United Kingdom is at the fifth position and scores 88 in total followed by the Germany, Portugal, and Norway with the same score of 88 in 2023. Countries like Central African Republic and South Sudan scored only 32 and 34, respectively in the UHC 2023. The lowest performance by the last two mentioned countries shows sharp comparison with the countries at highest point in the UHC 2023 list in terms of inequalities and inaccessibility to better healthcare system. Therefore, this data can be used as a base to improve the healthcare system and Medicare providers in the countries those require urgent improvement.
